About The Department
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology was established in 1981 and is involved in the teaching and training of undergraduate and postgraduate medical students as well as providing routine and tertiary care for all patients. The Department is equipped with a full-fledged delivery room suite that includes first stage rooms, labor rooms and an operating theatre for obstetric cases. The hospital receives normal and high-risk cases through different channels. There are 12 Obstetrics and Gynecology clinics per week. Consultants, senior registrars and residents are involved in the running of these clinics. The Department runs an active Obstetrics and Gynecology emergency room, providing around-the-clock service. In adition to training the medical students from IAU’s own College of Medicine, the Department regularly trains interns and resident doctors from the Department of Family Medicine, the community and students of the Faculty of Nursing, Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University as well as training graduate students enrolled in the fellowship program of the Saudi Board as well as the fellowship of the Council of Arab Medical Specialties in the specialty of obstetrics and gynecology.
